The Chief Minister of Odisha state has launched the Odisha Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana in place of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to provide free health services to the economically weaker citizens of the state. Through this scheme, the government will provide health-related services worth ₹ 500000 lakh to the citizens of rural areas and ₹ 600000 lakh to the citizens of urban areas. Under this scheme, economically weaker families will be able to get treatment for their serious diseases free of cost. They will not have to face any kind of financial problems.

31 Dec Update:- About 3.5 crore people will get health cards in Odisha

The state government will implement Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in February 2025. From this new year, around 3.5 crore people in Odisha will get individual health cards and no one will be deprived of health insurance schemes. Through this scheme, health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh will be provided in rural areas and up to Rs 6 lakh in urban areas. The state government is also committed to increasing the number of medical and nursing colleges in the state in the next year.
