The Ministry of External Affairs organizes the MEA Internship Program twice a year to help young graduates. Under this programme, youth are provided internship opportunities. This internship is conducted over a period of 6 months each. In which April to September (Term I) and October to March (Term II). Each session accommodates 30 trainees, who are selected based on an intensive selection process. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of their academic performance in high school and university, with preference given to candidates from TADP districts and SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories. MEA Internship Program 2025
The Ministry of External Affairs Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to understand how India formulates and implements its foreign policy. Each trainee will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹10,000 to cover basic expenses during the internship. The MEA internship program is conducted in two phases: April to September (Term I) and October to March (Term II). Each session accommodates 30 trainees. For Term I, the selection process follows the “quota cum weightage” system, in which candidates from 14 states and 4 union territories including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi are considered. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) provides a great opportunity for young graduates to gain valuable experience through its internship programme, which is available twice a year.

Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- The age of the candidate should not exceed 25 years as on 31st December of the year of internship.
- Applicant minimum educational qualification should be Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or in the final year of graduate programme.

Stipend
Each trainee will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹10,000 to cover basic expenses. In which the cost of one-time round trip air travel will be provided by the domicile state or college/university of the selected candidates.
Selection Process
- The ministry will prepare separate state-wise merit lists for male and female candidates on the basis of academic performance in +2 and graduation examinations.
- Preference will be given to applicants from TADP districts during the initial screening stage and applicants from SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories in the personal interview stage.
- The personal interview will be conducted by the Ministry through videoconferencing.
- A maximum of 30 candidates will be selected through the interview process and offered internships.
- If any candidate opts out, the opportunity will be provided to the next candidate in the merit list.
