AP Free Gas Cylinder Scheme 2024
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has launched the AP Free Gas Cylinder Scheme for the women of the state. Through this scheme, three free gas cylinders will be provided every year to the eligible women of the state. The government will start the supply of free LPG cylinders on the occasion of Diwali on 31 October 2024. Under this scheme, the expenditure incurred on purchasing gas cylinders can be used for other domestic purposes. This scheme will help in improving the living standards of the poor.

Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today (October 30) implemented the free gas cylinder scheme across the state. Under the ‘Super Six’ promises made by the coalition government before the elections, the state will bear the cost of three gas cylinders per year, for which the funds will be directly distributed to petroleum companies by CM Chandrababu Naidu, CMO. According to the CMO report, the free gas cylinder scheme, one of the ‘Super Six’ promises, has been implemented across the state. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu handed over the subsidy amount to representatives of Hindustan Petroleum (HP), Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Free Gas Cylinder Scheme Objective
The main objective of starting this scheme is to provide free gas cylinders to the women of the state. Free gas cylinders will be provided by the Andhra Pradesh government. The price of gas cylinder refill is very high due to which many families do not get the cylinder refilled and women are still cooking on the stove. Keeping this in mind, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched the Andhra Pradesh Free Gas Cylinder Scheme with the aim of providing three free gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of the scheme every year.

The central government is giving a subsidy of Rs 25. Veerapandian said that implementation of the free gas cylinder scheme will impose an additional financial burden of Rs 2,648 crore on the government. The total additional burden for the five years will be Rs 13,423 crore.
